The series "Fav(orite)-spot" was created after our customers often sent feedback and travel reports to us. So everyone can read where its most beautiful and maybe visit one or the other place.
I was looking for a weekend accommodation around the lake Achensee (Tyrolia) at the beginning of the year and became aware of Sharemyprop.com through friends. They have made good experiences, because they booked the vacation home of their friends already, that otherwise was always an issue of when it was or was not available.
Since I have a dog, not every hotel or pension are suitable for us, and I just want it to be relaxed for me and my dog. So I tried my luck and got through friends of friends the opportunity to rent a vacation apartment on Lake Achensee in Maurach. Dogs were welcome, so it was perfect for me. The village of Maurach is so beautifully situated and now in the off-season many hotels are closed and not too many tourists are out yet.
From Ulm, I was there in three hours, and we immediately went for a first stroll to the lake to stretch our legs. Just behind the Hotel Fürstenhof, the path goes around to the left along the lake and you can walk for many kilometers along the path, always with a view of the lake to the right. The path is off-limits to cyclists, so our walk was really pleasant. Although we had to climb over a few tree trunks and the path is also closed for a few weeks in April, it was a nice adventure.
Strolling along the lakeside promenade in Maurach is also absolutely recommended. There is a lot to see, also the center of Maurach has many nice areas and small shops with beautiful things to discover.
On my discovery tour I passed the Tiroler Steinöl Museum (Tyrolian Stone Oil Museum). I saved that for later in the afternoon, then without the dog. It was really worth it to go in there to explore the history of Tyrolean Stone Oil. In winter, the museum is only open until 16:30, so be sure to check in beforehand to see if it's open. On the last day of the wonderful weekend, we hiked to the mountain station of the Rofan cable car at 1840m. The way up was beautiful, but a bit difficult to walk, because there were still many sections with snow and ice, so I was glad to have my shoes and hiking gear. After just under 2 hours we arrived at the top. As a reward for us, we could enjoy a wonderful panorama of Lake Achensee and the entire surrounding area. At the top one could still have gone a winter hiking trail, the round trip is estimated at 1.5 hours. But we did not do that anymore but took the gondola down to the valley in a very relaxed way.
A really nice weekend is behind us, which I will remember very fondly. And I'm also glad that I so easily found a place to stay on Sharemyprop.com. Let's see where it takes me and my dog next time - vacation time in the mountains is set already!
