The series "Fav(orite)-spot" was created after our customers often sent feedback and travel reports to us. So everyone can read where its most beautiful and maybe visit one or the other place.

Finally, it was time - the Oktoberfest 2022 took place and we were there!

Clearly, our wallet couldn’t afford an overnight stay anywhere in proximity of the Oktoberfest, so we have tried the new offer of sharemyprop for our booking. Friends of us have made us aware of it. We were really enthusiastic about it.

We stayed (we were two) in the west of Munich in a souterrain apartment, with direct S-Bahn connection to the Oktoberfest. The key handover was pretty relaxed, because the landlords gave us access to a keylock, so we could arrive as we wanted. We arrived by train, because the 2 hours from Nuremberg was faster by train than by car.

The apartment was very comfortably furnished, we could provide for ourselves well, because there was a separate kitchenette with refrigerator, so that we lacked nothing. In addition, the hosts had put the most important information on our pillow and were also nice enough to explain to us quickly what there was to know about the Oktoberfest.

The most important tip was that bags (except very small) are not allowed, and you should therefore stow your things well in your pockets, or much more simple, leave them at home. Surely there are lockers on site, but we wanted to save the hassle. All information about the Oktoberfest can be found here www.oktoberfest.de.

On Saturday morning, we took the S-Bahn to the Hackerbrücke. Before the entrance of the Oktoberfest we turned left and looked at the Oktoberfest assassination memorial. Back in 1980, 13 people were killed and more than 200 people were injured in a right-wing extremist attack. There is now an installation where you can enter a labyrinth of human silhouettes, each telling the stories, impressions and emotions of the people involved.

A bit quiet we then walked through the main entrance of the Oktoberfest and got an impression of the beer tents on the Bierzeltstrasse. All tents were still accessible, so we first looked into the Marstall tent, then into the Ochsenbraterei and learned that ox "Sepp" with almost 5 hundred kilograms was just in the process of being eaten by the tent guests.

We slowly made our way towards the "oide Wiesn" (old form of Oktoberfest) and then decided to have lunch there as well. The roast pork with dumplings was simply delicious and the beer was a great treat. We were entertained by the band and there was also a special performance by the alphorn blowers, which was quite interesting.

We then continued towards the rides, of course we had to take the Olympia ride which has 5 loops. The queues were still bearable, so the fare (12 euros) hurt, but it was worth it. We were both satisfied and happy.

As we walked around further, we passed by the "Tobbogan" ride. It was a sheer delight!!! Several slightly buzzed people had gathered to somehow be maneuvered up standing on the conveyor belt. Afterwards, they went down the wooden slide on a carpet, but the really fun part was the daredevil people somehow trying to make it up the conveyor belt with dignity. We had a great time and thanks to the nice helpers on site, everyone made it to the top eventually. It's nice how you can have so much fun with such a simple thing! Our final stop of the day was then the "Wiesn-Glupperl" booth, there are clothespins made of wood that you can have labeled with all sorts of things. A nice job with the soldering iron.

The way back with the S-Bahn to our apartment was quite interesting. But the mood was cheerful and the further west we went, the emptier the train became. Thus it was then also relaxed for us.

On Sunday we took it a bit easier and went on a trip with the S-Bahn to the Ammersee. In Herrsching (S8 stop) we got off and walked along the promenade and enjoyed the view across the lake. In the distance we could only glimpse the mountains, the weather god didn't play along quite the way we wanted. We could have taken a ride on the tour boat, but we didn't feel like it. We will save that for another time. If you are interested, here is the website for the Ammersee Schifffahrt. Sunday was already the end of our weekend, we took the train back to Nuremberg in the evening. We took away such a lot of beautiful impressions of the Oktoberfest and also from the friendly family that hosted us in their apartment. @sharemyprop we will do it again!
